This island tour has been specially designed for wildlife enthusiasts and only available from 01 November to 30 April due to Whale & Dolphin.However "Untamed Sri Lanka" tour is designed excluding Whale & Dolphin watching which can be done throughout the year.
Sri Lanka has a very high rate of biological endemism in the world whether in plants or animals and is included among the top five biodiversity hotspots in the world.
You will be starting your tour by spending one night in the vibrant Colombo and then heading to the misty mountains covered with lush green tea bushes and splendid waterfalls. .
You will be visiting the Horton Plains National Park and the Sinharaja Rain Forest, only two natural UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka. Both Horton Plains National Park and Sinharaja Rain Forest are rich in biodiversity and many species found are endemic. Horton Plains is an important bird area and large herds of Sri Lankan Sambar deer is spotted here. Sinharaja Rain Forest is home to over 50% of Sri Lanka's endemic species of mammals and butterflies, as well as many kinds of insects, reptiles and rare amphibians. .
Further you will be visiting famous Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home, Udawalawe National Park and Yala National Park by a safari jeep where you will be able to see many animals in their natural habitat. You will be able to spot many species of mammals found in Sri Lanka including Asian elephants, sloth bear, leopards, sambar, wild buffaloes, red slender Loris, Toque Macaque, and Purple-faced Langur.Also, Yala National Park boasts the highest leopard density in the world and the chance of spotting a Leopard is high.
Then you will be moving to Mirissa, where you will be going on a boat ride to spot the Whales & Dolphins. Blue whales, Bryde´s whales, Sperm whales, Fin whales, bottle nose dolphins, common dolphins and spinner dolphins are found in the waters of Southern Seas.
You will visit the amazing fortifications of Galle Dutch Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Further you will visit a Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda and go on a River Safari in Maadu River. You will be ending this tour by relaxing on the world famous south coast beaches. .
